Complete Uninstallation Guide – Clean Your System Properly
Before installing a new version of Adobe Acrobat, it’s essential to completely remove any previous installations. Follow these steps carefully to ensure all Adobe files and registry entries are properly removed from your system.
Uninstall Programs
- Open Control Panel → Programs and Features (or Settings → Apps → Installed Apps)
- Locate and uninstall any Adobe Acrobat version that you have
- Locate and uninstall Adobe Genuine Service
Delete Leftover Adobe Folders
Check and remove the following folders if they exist. (If you have other Adobe products installed, do not delete the entire Adobe folder — instead, open the Adobe directory and remove only the Adobe Acrobat folder if it’s present.)
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\
- C:\Program Files\Adobe\
- C:\ProgramData\Adobe\
- C:\Program Files\common files\adobe\
- C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\
- C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Local\Adobe\
Tip: You may need to enable “Show hidden files” in File Explorer to see AppData and ProgramData folders.
Remove Adobe Services from Registry
⚠️ Caution: Please be careful when editing the registry. Always backup your registry before making changes.
- Press Win + R, type
regedit, and press Enter - Navigate to the following keys and delete them if present:
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Adobe
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Adobe
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AGMService
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AGSService
